We had a pretty laid back New Years here. We kept Keaton and Braxton New Years eve so their parents could party, ring in the New Year and wake up with hangovers. Glad those days are behind me. When it started taking me two days to get over one nights worth of fun I gave that life style up. Anyway back to my story. Every year at the stroke of midnight these idiots that live south of us ring in the New Year with plenty of gunfire. This year was no different it went on for 15 minutes. I can’t believe people are so smart that they fire live ammunition into the air not thinking that it will come down somewhere. Keaton thought it was fireworks and I must admit a small amount of it was but you can tell the difference between the popping of Black Cats and the consistent firing of live ammunition. It was enough to scare her so she ended up in bed with us. She hasn’t slept in our bed since I broke my leg in Dec. 04. The only thing three years has changed is her legs have grown longer and she now kicks harder. She had a good laugh when we talked about it the next day, I had to embellish the story just a tad. What I didn’t know until about 5:00 in the morning was Penny couldn’t take her kicking so she got in bed with Braxton. Had I know that I would of scooted Keaton over but instead I laid there and took it all night. She spent the night again last night and slept in bed with us but I didn’t notice her kicking as much. Penny even managed to stay in bed with us.

 New Years day was a pretty day, we had the in-laws and our kids over. We cooked hamburgers outside and tried to finish off the rest of the Christmas goodies. Today the rest of the cookies and candy went into the trash. It wasn’t a whole bunch but I needed to get all that sugar out of our house.

Do you remember the old Alfred Hitchcock movie The Birds ? The movie is almost coming true in Hobbs NM These black birds have taken over our neighborhood. We used to have sparrows , pigeons and doves around our house but now all we have is these nasty noisy crapping black birds. A few years ago I started seeing a few of black birds here and there now all of the sudden they have taken over our town. A big bunch of them roost in the big cedar trees across the street. Every morning and afternoon they start their chirping and pooping. They fly in swarms of 1000’s crapping on everything. I park my company truck on the curb away from any trees but you would think I parked under a tree from all the crap that gets on it. We have a big shade tree in our front yard that they just love to roost in. This afternoon I was standing on the front porch watching them fly around and it sounded like someone was dropping something on our carport, I got to watching closer and it was the birds crapping on it that was making the noise. It’s a constant struggle trying to keep the sidewalk clean, I can rinse it off today and tomorrow afternoon it’s covered again. I thought pigeons were bad but these things take the cake.
