MERRY CHRISTMAS

Jesus is the reason

I want to thank everyone for their comments and help on my little ole blog this year. The next few days are going to be full of fun filled family engagements, basically busy busy busy.
It has become a tradition to have Christmas eve at our house which Penny and I love. We would rather have it here than anywhere else. The Christmas eve meal is something different every year with lots of snacks, dips and all sorts of candies, cakes and pies. This year D’Lisa asked if I would BBQ ? The funny thing about it is when D’Lisa got married I had a big BBQ them. I found out my new son inlaw Bobby didn’t care for BBQ. At least that’s what he said while he was filling his plate full of steak and taters. I guess I converted him because he’s the one that wanted me to BBQ for Christmas eve.
Tomorrow I’m going to smoke a brisket, turkey and a pork butt. Monday I’m going to BBQ beef ribs, pork ribs, chicken and smoked sausage. Tomorrow will be the longest day for cooking, I’m going to get up at 4:00 to start the fire and have the meat on by 5:00. It will take all day and maybe run into the night to cook those three big hunks of meat.
If I don’t get another chance before Christmas I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. Hope everyone has a safe holiday. May God bless each and everyone. Remember Jesus is the reason for the season

Black Birds

A quick Corey update …. He’s home woo hoo he feels and looks so much better.

Do you remember the old Alfred Hitchcock movie The Birds ? The movie is almost coming true in Hobbs NM These black birds have taken over our neighborhood. We used to have sparrows , pigeons and doves around our house but now all we have is these nasty noisy crapping black birds. A few years ago I started seeing a few of black birds here and there now all of the sudden they have taken over our town. A big bunch of them roost in the big cedar trees across the street. Every morning and afternoon they start their chirping and pooping. They fly in swarms of 1000’s crapping on everything. I park my company truck on the curb away from any trees but you would think I parked under a tree from all the crap that gets on it. We have a big shade tree in our front yard that they just love to roost in. This afternoon I was standing on the front porch watching them fly around and it sounded like someone was dropping something on our carport, I got to watching closer and it was the birds crapping on it that was making the noise. It’s a constant struggle trying to keep the sidewalk clean, I can rinse it off today and tomorrow afternoon it’s covered again. I thought pigeons were bad but these things take the cake.

I made a quick video with my digital camera this afternoon just to share how noisy they are.

Corey update

A quick Corey update. He’s still in the hospital but doing better, the breathing treatments are helping. He still has an IV in his arm but they stopped giving him antibiotics or other fluids tonight. He and his momma are both tired and ready to come home. If he continues to improve I’m sure he will be home some time tomorrow. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers, they are much appreciated.

Corey

Came home for lunch today and D’Lisa was here trying to do her laundry. She was holding Corey he has some form of the crud and feels bad. She took him to the doctor yesterday and they gave him all sorts of medicine. He is choked up and is having problems breathing. I felt so bad for him. Every time he sees me he turns his head and smiles, today you could tell he wanted to smile but he just couldn’t quite do it. After I went back to work Penny called me and said they were taking him to the hospital. He’s there now and according to Penny once they got through poking and prodding on him they gave him a breathing treatment and was doing somewhat better. You always feel for the little ones when they feel bad. I always wish it was me suffering and not them. I’m asking everyone to keep him in your prayers.

envelope glue

Did you ever seen the Seinfield episode where George’s fiance died from licking the envelops for their wedding invitations because he bought the cheap ones? If I die tonight it’s because I’ve been poisoned by envelope glue. I wanted something a bit different for my Christmas cards this year so I looked for some old nostalgic cards on ebay. I found some from the 40’s that caught my eye back in November. The seller didn’t take paypal so I sent a money order with hopes of them sending them out pretty quick. After me hounding them death and given up hope on them arriving before Christmas they finally arrived today. After I got them addressed and as I was licking the envelopes tasting the nasty glue I got to thinking about that Seinfield episode. I was surprised the glue still worked on the envelopes. Anyhow your cards you get from me this year are 60 plus years old no two are alike. Hope they make it to your house before Christmas. Shy yours might make it in time for Christmas next year.

one more

Can you handle one more video? This one has a combination of two things I wish I could do. Playing the piano like this guy and dancing like this couple.

Smile

Can you tell I don’t have much to say and finally figured out how to post videos?
If you can watch this all the way through without at least cracking a smile I would say you need professional help.

Favorite Christmas Carol

This is one of my favorite Christmas Carols. If anyone happens to have a video of K.T. Oslin singing Blue Christmas I would probably kiss you for it.
